RTP startup Get Spiffy buys out competitor, expands national footprint
The acquisition now adds more than 200 office park and multi-unit residences previously serviced by NuWash onto Spiffy’s platform.
“We had an opportunity to consolidate a competitor at one of our larger cities, and it also made economical sense,” Spiffy CEO Scot Wingo told WRAL TechWire, shortly after the announcement.
While he declined to disclose details, he said it was “the classic win-win type scenario.”
Back in June, Spiffy closed on more than $10 million in new venture capital, adding six markets and a new fleet management service. Today, it serves a total of 11 markets, including Dallas, since expanding there in 2017.
“In a short time, Dallas has become a top-performer,” Wingo said in a statement.
Spiffy said many NuWash Dallas technicians will have the opportunity to join the Spiffy team where they will receive over 100 hours of classroom and field training.
Founded in 2014 by Karl Murphy in RTP, Spiffy is an on-demand technology and services company with the mission to redefine the car care experience everywhere. Spiffy offers a variety of hand car washing, advanced detailing, oil change and maintenance service options. Customers can schedule in less than two minutes with the Spiffy app.
